Copper heat exchangers

Heat transfer, weight, and price:  these are all prime factors that speak in favour of copper-aluminium heat exchangers. And it is especially in air-conditioning applications that heat exchangers by GEA point the way along new approaches toward more efficient, high-power equipment and processes.

Production of these heat exchangers – made of round copper pipes with aluminium fins that have been slid onto these pipes – takes place on the basis of project-related drawings and parts lists. A special expansion process ensures a secure mechanical connection between the core pipe and the aluminium fins. Copper reversal pipe bends provide the water-side connections for the individual pipes. In all standard versions, we use copper pipes with soldered-on steel-pipe threaded fittings, or welding neck flanges, for the collectors. We design the connection diameters for flow and return lines, as well as the collector diameters, on the basis of the flow volume – and in accordance with the permissible pressure losses. In order to prevent temperature stress produced by expansion of the pipes, the entire heating surface is installed so as to be free to move through the metal head plates.

In the basic version, the enclosure is made of galvanized steel plate. We also deliver other materials for the enclosures, in accordance with the customer’s specifications.

Air coolers are provided with an integrated drain pan to collect any water that may condensate.

Our products are subject to continuous quality control, as set forth in our Quality Management System, based on EN 9001:2000. All heat changers are accordingly subject to test pressure of 20 bar, as part of the stress and leak testing performed in our final quality control procedures.
