The user also has the option of linking up to 5 units of the same series via reference-control /sequence-control circuitry, with the result that maximum cooling capacity of 12,250 kW can be achieved.
Of course, all the chillers in the GL series can communicate via an optional interface with a building utilities management system, by means of the various protocols that are available.
Loving the air: GLAC and GLAH
The air-cooled GLAC chillers, with axial fans, are intended for outdoor Installation, and are available with nominal cooling capacities between 36 and 1,750 kW.
The basic structure of these models is a picture of ruggedness: the frame and the panels are made of galvanized, coated steel sheeting. A noise-suppressing finish in the compressor compartment helps this engineering achievement to make itself known by performance, and not by noise. Optional versions of this model are available with additional noise suppression: for example, to assure effective service near residential areas.
These models are fitted with fully hermetic scroll compressors, or semi-hermetic screw compressors, depending on model and ratings.
Compression in the screw compressor, which is manufactured by advanced techniques and with the strictest of tolerances, takes place without Vibration and at a low pulsation level. This means an almost constant level of gas Output in these machines. High-quality plate or finned-pipe heat exchangers as evaporators and condensers round out the efficient compressor technology here to provide an overall cost-effective solution.
Choice of heat, choice of indoor Installation
The designation GLAH is used for models similar to GLAC units, but which have a heat-pump cycle function. They have a cooling rating of 35 to 154 kW, and heating Output of 41 to 171 kW. The models under the GLCD designation, in addition, offer air-cooled solutions up to 312 kW, which are designed for Installation indoor buildings.
Water is their element: GLWC and GLWH
The essential characteristics of the air-cooled models are likewise found in the GLWC and GLWH types - with the exception that they like the water: here it serves for cooling. With cooling capacities up to 2,450 kW, they cover almost every required application. These water-cooled units are designed for indoor Operation. Thanks to the optional heat-pump function, the GLWH models support cooling as well as heating operations.
Further selection possibilities
All of the above-described models feature their own condensers. GLRC chillers by GEA, however, provide units for indoor Installation and for Operation with external condensers. The GLCU condensing units are especially effective when combined with the air-handling units GEA CAIRplus and GEA ATpicco.
