Planning manual for cold-water climate-control systems
Practical benefits from practical experience



Although a great deal of technical literature is devoted to heating technology, publications on cold-water climate-control systems are relatively rare. This was reason enough to prompt a team of authors at GEA Happel Klimatechnik GmbH and from GEA Klimatechnik GmbH & Co KG to compile their expertise on cold-water technology to produce a manual of 126 pages on the topic. The authors Werner Gessler, Stefan Müller, Johann Neuhuber, Ralf Radke, and Andreas Seifert have collected valuable technical knowledge involving chiller systems, and have presented it in easy-to-understand manner, with support in the form of numerous graphical, tabular, and pictorial contributions. The result is not only valuable but also pleasant reading matter.

This book treats complicated project challenges and describes examples with great practical relevance. The authors, for example, provide valuable support in the selection of systems by explaining feasible system variants, models, installation options, and system-control possibilities – all within the context of practical application. The authors also elaborate on the topics of frost protection, refrigerants, maintenance, repair, and much more. The manual likewise provides valuable information on cost effectiveness, energy consumption, and environmental protection:  with respect not only to energy requirements but also selection of the most effective refrigerants.

 

This manual, however, also imparts basic knowledge. It is therefore highly useful for trainees, and can be effectively consulted as a reference work because of the presentation of topics in self-contained chapters.

 

The “Cold-Water Planning Manual“ will be available in German (“Planungshandbuch Kaltwasseranlagen”) directly from GEA Happel Klimatechnik GmbH in Herne, under the order number PR-2008-0001-D, for the prince of 39.90 euros (including VAT). The English version is planned for publication around June of 2008.
