Press Release of 04 June 2007

Lukas Weiler is the new Chief Information Officer at the GEA Air Treatment Division

A new IT expert at GEA will further optimize data exchange throughout Europe

In early August of 2007, Lukas Weiler (45) accepted responsibility for IT activities throughout the entire GEA Air Treatment Division, which includes all 35 companies under the roof of the GEA Group.

Since August of this year, Lukas Weiler (45) has lent support to the team at GEA Air Treatment Division. As Chief Information Officer (CIO), he will be responsible for IT functions throughout all companies in the GEA Air Treatment Division. He will report to the Chief Financial Officer, Dr. Michael Bauer. Lukas Weiler’s functions will include complete integration of all GEA Air Treatment locations into the Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERP).

After completing his training and qualifications as IT specialist, Lukas Weiler accepted initial positions as a software developer and project manager. In the late 1990s, he moved to the field of mechanical engineering, and was responsible with his most recent employer for all IT activities in Europe and South Africa. Parallel to his professional work, he obtained an Executive Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA).

“I am pleased to be able to place my experience at the service of the GEA Air Treatment Division now, and to contribute in this way to process enhancement,” said Weiler. “Although information technology is not directly reflected in manufactured products themselves, it still represents the backbone of communications in practically all companies.” As prime examples of the effects of IT enhancement as highly perceptible outside a company, Lukas Weiler cites the following:  greater precision in contract execution, shorter throughput times, and greater optimization in e-service. Dr. Michael Bauer has welcomed him aboard as follows:  “We are fortunate to be able to have Mr. Weiler as an experienced IT expert – one who is familiar with the structures and the procedures in our business. This will especially benefit us in ongoing process optimization at the newest of our GEA Air Treatment Division sites.”
